Why I write about Eating Better & Moving More

I was very overweight and unhealthy….and if there is anything I can do to help someone else get FREE from FAT and the physical and emotional pain that comes with carrying extra WEIGHT then I want to help.

Here is a pic (one of the few I did not destroy) of me when I was VERY unhealthy and overweight.

I am SO grateful to my sister, Linda, who encouraged me to make some healthy changes when I was a very sad overweight teen.

I was hopeless and she gave me hope.

I had no clue where to begin and she gave me some ideas that helped me get started.

So if I can help anyone to get healthy and feel better I would be honored to pay it forward.

Why do I write about how to eat better and how to get fit?

  • Because I was  extremely overweight and I lost over 70 pounds! I have kept the weight off for over 20+ years.
  • Because I love food and have learned how to eat healthy AND eat yummy and stay slim. Healthy and yummy are NOT mutually exclusive – you CAN have both!
  • Because I have learned that when I move my body each day (exercise) I not only feel MUCH better, it also helps big time in maintaining my weight loss.
  • Because people are always asking me how to get fit and how to eat better.  I figured this would be an easy forum to share what has worked for me…and if it helps you – I will be thrilled!

Getting fit saved my life!

After I lost over 70 pounds I learned how to keep the weight off for the last 20+ years

Yes I did change my diet.

And no…I don’t over-eat or binge like I did when I was an obese teenager.

But I have not stopped ENJOYING delicious food.


I love food!

I just eat better.

YOU don’t have to give up food.

  • You don’t have to starve
  • You don’t have to work out for hours every single day or spend all your life at the gym
  • You don’t have to give up all the things you love

Believe me there are LOTS of yummy foods that are good for you and will help you get healthy and slim.

You just have to change a few simple things about the way you live your life and you can be slim and healthy and fit!

Truly, the key to long lasting weight loss and health is Eat Better and Move More

I am now in my mid-40s later 40′s (a baby boomer!) and I have never gained the weight back.

I am healthy and active and find lots of fun ways every day to burn calories and stay motivated to stay in shape (while still getting to eat lots of yummy foods I love!)

I am not just about losing weight.

I am all about getting healthy, feeling good, feeling strong, and having enough energy to do what we need to do each day.

I hope what I share with you will help you  keep yourself motivated and GET OFF the couch enough to lose the weight you want to lose or maintain your weight loss (like I have for over 20+ years!)

Remember it is important to check with your doctor or health professional before you change your diet or take on a brand new fitness program.

I have discovered juiceing. It took me about 1 month to find the right combination of vegetables, friuts, that my body seems to crave. Kale, and celery, and spinach seem to be a good green mix for me. Apples and oranges, carrots make a great sweet taste. It has taken a month but I am now losing weight. My grandchildren love to drink it with me. and to make it. My kidney dr. is very please with the numbers. I feel like I have more energy.

Jean – I really love juicing too! And it is a great way to flood your body with nutrition! One of my all time favorite green juice recipes is a Green Lemonade Recipe. Have you tried it?

Green Lemonade Recipe

1 head romaine lettuce
5 to 6 stalks of kale
2 sweet apples (I usually use Fuji or Pink Lady apples)
1 whole lemon (organic is best so you don’t have to peel it)
1 to 2 tablespoons fresh ginger root (optional – but I love this – add to your own taste)

Process the vegetables and fruit through your juicer.

This recipe will give quite a bit of juice – depending on the size of your fruits and vegetables you can probably get 2 large glasses of juice. You can share with a friend or put the 2nd glass in your fridge and drink it throughout the day.
