Unprocessed Foods Challenge – Let’s Do It!!

I have shared my issues with processed foods in the past (see This Stuff Made Me Fat if you missed it) and then low and behold I found out today that October is “Unprocessed Foods Challenge Month.”

Andrew Wilder at Eating Rules is running the challenge

This challenge asks….

What would happen if you went for an entire month without eating any processed foods?

You might be thinking…. “Are you crazy?”  Who does that? Is it possible?

Well it IS possible. But……

Like everything I share with you, please just open your mind to the possibilities and then give it your best shot.

I am not asking you to do it PERFECTLY! Although you definitely are welcome to do it that way if you choose.

“All or nothing” mentalities when it comes to food makes a lot of people QUIT altogether the first time they have a slip up – so I don’t recommend setting yourself up that way (you perfectionists hearing me?? :) )

I am just encouraging you to give this challenge a try.

And if nothing else, REDUCE the amount of processed foods you eat. Simply eat MORE non-processed foods. Okay?

Here is Andrew’s definition of Non-Processed foods:

Unprocessed food is any food that could be made by a person with reasonable skill in a home kitchen with readily available, whole-food ingredients.

I call it “The Kitchen Test.” If you pick up something with a label (and if it doesn’t have a label, it’s probably unprocessed), and find an ingredient you’d never use in your kitchen and couldn’t possibly make yourself from the whole form, it’s processed.

So what might happen if you REDUCED your intake of the processed stuff and ate more natural whole foods.

Your body will feel better and when you feel better, you do better in EVERY area of your life.

You will discover how delicious REAL FOOD really is!

When you feed your body BETTER FUEL – you can’t help but feel better and have more energy.

And….if you do nothing else…. PLEASE start reading labels and educate yourself about what you are feeding yourself.

Be a good steward of your body.

Take care of YOU.

The payoff of better health is worth it!
