Don’t Make Monday in to Diet Doomsday

99% of all diets begin on a Monday.

It’s a fresh start, the first day of the new week.

In fact, it’s a great starting point.

But NOT for a DIET!

Diets don’t work.

Diets set you up for failure.

Diets make you dread Monday even more!

In my fat past, I started SO many diets on Monday in my quest to lose weight.

And having that silly start date just set me up for a huge food binge on Sunday night.

And binge I did……talk about stomach-aches from junk food in the old days….ugh!

Starting a diet on Monday with a dang food hangover from Sunday – genius plan, right?!?


I can totally relate to what Lynette wrote in her Monday Diet poem

As always instead of a diet, I recommend that you simply start to Eat Better and Move More.

Especially MOVE MORE.

My mantra lately has been:


I walk every day (average about 4-5 miles)

I eat healthy food about 80-90% of the time

And I do it all over again the next day.

And by doing that….I lost a lot of weight and have kept it off.

With NO diets.

Just eating better and moving more – ya hear me?

Ugh. I still start my “eating plan” on Mondays! I usually party with my family or friends over the weekend, overeat, overdrink and vow to be better next week. Your suggestions really help me rethink that roller coaster.

In the old days, I had many “last suppers” on Sunday night, too! I ate and ate thinking that I needed to enjoy what I would NOT get to have when I started my new diet… That is why I hate diets. It is so much easier to lose weight and keep it off FOR GOOD by making smaller changes you can live with. Then….the weight comes off and stays off.

How do you deal with holidays like Thanksgiving? Do you load up because its just one day, or do you take one bite of everything and skip pie?

Iamloved1 – Re: Thanksgiving…I just go with the flow. I don’t overeat anymore because I HATE feeling stuffed. I just eat whatever looks good to me – no rules. However…I usually go for a long hike in the morning with my hubby – burn lots of calories, get fresh air, then shower, then EAT! :)
