Baby Boomers Obese and Overweight – Shocking News in Recent Poll

A recent poll (in June 2011) showed that

  • 1/3 of baby boomers polled were obese and an
  • additional 36% of the baby boomers are overweight.


So nearly 70 percent of the baby boomers polled had significant problems with weight!

The poll also found that half of the baby boomers were NOT doing any type of exercise at all.

And 37% don’t do any of the strength training needed to keep from losing muscle and to strengthen bones.

We are smart folks, aren’t we?

We all know that we have to live in our one and only body until we die – we can’t trade in for a newer model.

Heart disease is the number one killer in America.

And if heart disease does not kill you, the other “great” side effects of obesity and overweight are diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol issues, arthritis and more.

I get concerned when I read articles like this – and it is hard to face the truth that our country is so out of shape, overweight and in such bad health.

I am not trying to be a pest or a nag when I encourage you to eat better and move more.

I just want you all to experience how awesome good health feels!

And I don’t want any of you to go into old age suffering the effects of a bad diet or lack of exercise that make your “golden years” not very golden….

I have spent many years taking care of my aging dad who is actually in pretty good health for being in his mid-80s. While taking my dad to doctor appointments I have spent hours in doctor and hospital waiting rooms FULL of people who are suffering the ill affects of poor diet and lifestyle choices.

I just don’t want that to be YOUR future.

And I know you can make better choices and get healthier – if I can do it, anyone can!

They asked in the poll if anyone exercised and about 24 percent of the baby boomers said they did. And that most of them liked to walk for their exercise.

That is GOOD News!


Because walking can change YOUR life.

And no matter what size you are or how much weight you have to lose – you should be able to walk.

You already know how to do it :)

Just do it MORE!
