How to Lose Weight and Get Fit on a Budget

You don’t have to spend a fortune to lose weight and get fit!

Here are 7 ideas to get your creative juices flowing and your body moving (without breaking the budget).

1.    Walk  (or  jog).

It doesn’t cost much.

All it takes is a pair of shoes (that you probably already own).

Walking is one of the best exercises to lose weight and it is SO simple and FUN to do.

Walking is low impact and easy on your joints.

All you have to do is tie your shoes and head out the front door.

 

2.    Eat less.

Okay, this is a bit of a no brainer, but most people don’t think about it.

They focus on changing WHAT they eat (which is itself a good idea) and they work out (also a good idea).

But in all seriousness, simply eat less and you’ll lose weight and save money.

 

3.    Healthy foods can be cheap.

Beans, rice, eggs, and fruits and vegetables that are in season are among the cheapest choices in the supermarket.

Steer clear of foods that are out of season and start eating less meat.

  4.    Drink more water.

Drink  MORE water each day. It is SO good for you! And water is cheap!

Drink LESS less soda, juice and lattes. These drinks are packed with calories and they’re expensive.

5.    Plan ahead.

Plan your weekly meals around the supermarket inserts.

This way you maintain control over your meals and the food in your home.

You also retain control over your budget because you’re focusing on buying items that are on sale.

 

 

 

 

6.    Jump rope.

Remember jumping rope as a child?

That piece of exercise equipment costs about $0.99 at your local dollar store and it’s a fitness bonanza.

PLUS…did you know that ten minutes of jumping rope burns around 110 calories!

 

7.    Walk or ride your bike to the grocery.

If you’re within a few miles of your supermarket then it should be relatively easy to ride your bike or walk to it.

This is a great bike for grocery shopping!

When you walk or ride to the grocery store, you’ll only be able to buy as much as you can carry back home, which will prevent you from buying any unnecessary or impulse items.

And you’ll burn calories getting to and from the store!

Ok….so maybe these are not the most brilliant ideas….but they ARE budget friendly. And they really do work!

My family lives on a strict budget and we are still able to eat very healthy foods and stay fit and trim.

So remember….

Getting fit and staying on your budget doesn’t have to be expensive.

Sure, it’s fun to buy all those new fitness clothes, but you don’t have to.
